Rock Returns After Oscars

INTERNATIONAL: Fans outside the Wilbur Theater in Boston, Massachusetts were full of anticipation on Wednesday 30TH March for comedian Chris Rock's first standup performance following the Oscars, where Rock was slapped on stage by actor Will Smith.

Best actor winner Smith smacked Rock in the face while he was presenting and shouted vulgarity at the comedian for making a joke about his wife's hairstyle in a shocking moment overshadowing the Oscars ceremony on Sunday (March 27).

Rock's Wednesday show is in front of a sold-out crowd, with tickets going for well over $400 following the Oscars scandal.

Karen Casas, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee,

“She (her friend, standing with her) had an extra ticket and she invited me and we are going.”

Kim Russell, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee,

“I love Chris Rock and I’ve seen him twice in Philly.”

Karen Casas, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee, “We’re going to check out what he has to say about that slap on the face and see what happens.”

Kim Russell, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee, “I think he’s going to take the high road. He’s really intelligent, and I’m bummed out that Will Smith wasn’t escorted out. I think he should say something about that. That wasn’t cool, you know?”

Dominique James, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee,

“If he talks about it, I don’t even care. I just want to see Chris Rock, this is one of my favorite comedians of all time. I do standup and this dude is inspiration for me, so I definitely wanted to see him live at least once.”

Wanda Bradley, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee, “Will Smith was wrong. No room for violence no matter what his wife is going through. Wrong is wrong.”

Ann Turbett, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee,

“I’m just really curious to see how Chris is going to handle himself tonight. Is he going to do a lot of jokes about it or is he going to just talk about it in the beginning and go right into his other spiel. I think the interesting things is this is called “Death of the Ego”. He was so present when he got slapped on live television. Who would be that present after you get smacked that way? I’m just interested to see if he’ll have a funny take on it or go a bit deeper and talk about the ego and the issues.”

Ann Turbett, Chris Rock Standup Show Attendee, “It does feel great to be in the present moment, just being part of the action, part of the story. Or, at least witnessing the story, let’s put it like that.”
